Ibrahima Konaté continues to play a significant role in the Liverpool defence under Arne Slot
Liverpool have struggled to negotiate new contracts with Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold and these negotiations have dominated headlines despite the team sitting at the summit of the Premier League table.
Van Dijk is closest to signing a new contract but there is no certainty on whether either Salah or Alexander-Arnold will agree to put pen to paper on a new deal in the coming weeks and months.
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has attracted criticism for dragging his feet in the negotiations but the club are keen to make sure that the new deals make financial sense.
The Reds are prepared to make Alexander-Arnold the highest-paid player in the Premier League but are reluctant to offer a three-year deal to Salah at the moment.
Liverpool are also set to turn their attention towards offering a new contract to Ibrahima Konate who will enter the final year of his deal next summer.
The Merseyside giants are not expecting to face any issues in the talks with the Frenchman as he is happy and settled at Anfield but the club have been warmed to not take things lightly.
‘Get your house in order and sort out a new contract for Konate soon’ – Reds legend

Liverpool’s failure to tie down their stalwarts on new deals and the way they have allowed the situation to fester have frustrated many former Reds and the club’s supporters.
John Aldridge has indicated his annoyance at the way Liverpool have handled the negotiations with Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk and stressed that they must not make the same mistake with Konate.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
He stressed that Liverpool need to sort out the things in the background and get a deal done to sign up the Frenchman on a new long-term contract as soon as possible.
“I think Liverpool really have to be proactive in the case of Ibrahima Konate”, Aldridge wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo.
“If you look at the position the club have got themselves into with Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, it’s one they won’t want to be in with too many more of their key men.
“That’s why I think the club have got to get their house in order early with the Frenchman to provide themselves with an insurance policy and tie him down for what should be the years of his career as a centre-back.”
