Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are intending to reinforce their centre-back options in the upcoming transfer windows.
Virgil van Dijk is expected to sign a new contract and extend his stay at Anfield but Liverpool are still keen to ensure that they have new centre-backs in the squad ahead of next season.
Liverpool are tracking several centre-backs across Europe and are also keeping tabs on Premier League options such as Nottingham Forest’s Murillo and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.
The Merseyside giants have also been heavily linked with a move for Sevilla defender Loic Bade and the Frenchman is said to be closing in on a move to Anfield in the winter transfer window.
Hughes and his team are also keen on bringing in young talents and one such player in Belgium has emerged on the radar of the Liverpool scouts.
The Reds are tracking Club Brugge talent

According to CaughtOffside, Club Brugge’s 20-year-old defender Joel Ordonez has emerged as an option for the Merseyside giants.
The Belgian giants signed the Ecuadorian last year and he has been gradually developing into a top-class centre-back in Belgian football.
His performances have piqued the interest of several scouts across Europe and Liverpool are amongst the teams who are considering snapping him up.
Ordonez’s name has been added to Liverpool’s shortlist of defensive targets as they continue to keep tabs on several options.
However, Liverpool will face competition from within the Premier League if they decide to try and sign the Ecuadorian in the upcoming windows.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
Newcastle United and Aston Villa also have their eyes on him and are weighing up making an offer for the Club Brugge centre-back soon.
Club Brugge are keen to hold on to the young centre-back but are aware that it would be hard for the player to resist the option of moving to the Premier League.
He still has a contract until 2028 with Club Brugge so the club are under no pressure to sell him for a knocked down fee.
It would likely take an offer of around €30m to snare Ordonez away from the Belgian giants in the upcoming transfer windows.
