It is no secret that Liverpool are looking to sign a centre-back despite the club closing in on an agreement over a new deal with Reds captain Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk is expected to stay, which is massive for the Merseyside giants, but Liverpool have been keen to bring in at least one more centre-back in the upcoming transfer windows.
Richard Hughes and his recruitment team have been tracking several centre-backs across Europe as they continue to assess their options of getting a deal done.
Liverpool have been expected to spend big money on a centre-back in the summer and the club have not been keen to bring in any reinforcements in the winter window.
However, it has been claimed that plans have changed on Merseyside and Liverpool are now closing in on a deal to sign a defender in January.
A fee more or less agreed for the January swoop
Liverpool have been tracking several centre-backs and one of the names who has been persistently linked with a move to Merseyside is Loic Bade.
The Sevilla defender has been closely watched by the Liverpool scouts and there has been enough noise to suggest that the club’s interest in the Frenchman is genuine.
Sevilla have also been in a precarious financial position and have not been expected to resist a January move if a big enough offer lands on their table.
According to Todo Fichajes, Liverpool have more or less worked out a deal with Sevilla for the signature of the French defender in the winter window.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
If everything goes according to plan, Bade will join the Merseyside giants when the transfer window opens in January.
Sevilla preferred earning some cash from his sale in the winter window rather than holding on to Bade for the rest of the season.
The Spanish outfit were initially demanding a fee of €30m but Liverpool are set to pay around €25m for the defender’s move to Anfield.
The two clubs are finalising the details of the deal as Liverpool push forward toward adding to their defensive options in the January transfer window.
