Liverpool will have some tough decisions on their hands ahead of next season.
The plans this summer include beefing up the squad to help to challenge on multiple fronts. Liverpool have done a good job keeping their best players fit and healthy this season. But in the past few weeks, the workload has taken a toll on the squad. Conor Bradley and Cody Gakpo picked up knocks and were out for weeks. And against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, the reds lost Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate during the game.
Arne Slot will be backed heading into the transfer window. Liverpool need serious depth if they hope to compete on all fronts next season. This should not take plaudits away from the magnificent job Slot has done this season. He took over the team, transformed their style and brought the best out of some players. Ultimately, the squad size cost him in crucial games.

The reds know that to make moves in the window, they will have to sell some players first. Liverpool will reportedly have a substantial amount set aside for transfers. And could even have more funds if their highest earners leave at the end of the season. Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, the top two earners at Anfield, could leave when their contracts expire in June.
Liverpool also have to deal with players in the last year of their deals. Ibrahima Konate, Andrew Robertson and Caomhin Kelleher are all out of contract in 2026. The reds have an offer on the table for Konate, and sources within the club hint that Robertson will be offered an extension. Caomhin Kelleher is most definitely certain to leave before next season.
According to Florian Plettenburg, Liverpool are open to selling Harvey Elliot. The midfielder scored the winner in Paris last week, but has found game time difficult to come by this year. Arne Slot has preferred the combination of Ryan Gravenberch and Mac Allister. Curtis Jones is even higher up the pecking order than Elliot. There have been reports that the 21-year old could leave this summer, and it will be up to which clubs are interested.
Reds need to keep Elliot
Liverpool will need depth heading into next season. There are multiple players in the squad that need to be offloaded before Elliot becomes an option. His versatility allows him to play in attack and midfield which is a great fit in Slot’s system. Unless Liverpool have a quality upgrade lined up, the club do not need to sell Harvey Elliot.
