New Liverpool forward
Liverpool will be in the market for a new striker this summer.
The need for improvement at the position has become very clear this season. Darwin Nunez has failed to justify his big money fee. His status at Anfield has become even more questionable this campaign. Liverpool have played a large stretch of this season without a recognized striker. Slot has chosen to start Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz over Darwin Nunez in multiple games this season
It is one of the biggest signs that the Uruguayan will be sold when the window opens. But even with Jota and Diaz this season, there have been problems. Diogo Jota has great positioning and an eye for goal, but he has barely been fit this season – the Portuguese international has started just 11 league games this season. Luis Diaz has impressed when used in the number nine role, but his production up top has been poor.
Liverpool will need to address the position in the market this summer.

Liverpool open talks with highly rated striker

The reds’ plans have been made more clear this week. According to James Pearce, Liverpool will keep Diogo Jota this summer as they see him as a valuable option to play as the striker. The club will also be in the market to sign a new striker, as it is a very high priority.
Over the past few months, Newcastle star Alexander Isak has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield. Isak has been on fire this season, scoring 20 Premier League goals.
According to the latest report, Liverpool are set to switch their attention to another target. The reds have began talks with Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike this week, per Anfield Watch. Richard Hughes is said to have met with the French star’s representatives to discuss a possible move. Liverpool are well aware that Ekitike would cost much less than Alexander Isak, and are seriously considering signing the 22-year old this summer. Frankfurt value Ekitike around £68million, which is way much less than the £150million Newcastle want for Isak. Manchester United and Arsenal are also keeping an eye on the striker, but it is yet to be known if they will pursue a move.
Hugo Ekitike has 19 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season.
