According to Football Insider Liverpool have made an internal decision on the future of Bobby Clark. The Reds have decided that the midfielder will leave the club on loan rather than on a permanent transfer.

Bobby Clark has been linked to multiple clubs including Red Bull Salzburg; who are now managed by former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders. Football Insider reports that Salzburg have already had a £6million pound bid rejected. The midfielder is also drawing interest from Leeds United and Norwich City.

He joined the Merseyside club from Newcastle United in 2021. Clark had also been in the Birmingham City academy before moving to Tyneside. The midfielder was a highly rated prospect, and cost Liverpool a seven figure fee in the transfer.

Jürgen Klopp had high praise for Bobby Clark

The 19-year old made his senior team debut in August 2022, and had his role increased last season as he featured in 12 Premier League games.

Jürgen Klopp was a big fan of Bobby Clark and had this to say after his Europa League debut against Sparta Prague, where he scored and provided an assist:

“He played incredibly,” said Klopp to TNT Sports: “It was his first goal but he won the ball back then and he was after another one.

“He is the one I am worried a bit about, as we wanted to take off Mo [Salah], but Bobby sits on the ground and says he feels something in the ankle. Hopefully it is nothing.

“The steps the boy made though, pfff [wow]!

“We’ve had such a difficult situation with all the injuries and then the boys stepped in and took their chances. So I’m very happy with that, they were exceptional again.”

Decision time for Bobby Clark and Reds’ youngsters

Clark was also part of the Liverpool youngsters who held their own in the last season’s EFL Cup final to win the trophy against Chelsea.

In Jürgen Klopp’s final season at Liverpool, he put a lot of trust in the youngsters at the club, that is when Clark got his chance to shine.

With senior squad members Alexis MacAllister, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliot, and Gravenberch competing for three midfield spots, Clark was only able to feature in cup games and the Europa League. It was there he took his chance and announced himself to the Kop.

This pre season has provided new Liverpool coach Arne Slot an opportunity to assess the young players at the club before deciding on their future. Alongside Bobby Clark, Fabio Carvalho could be another player that could leave Anfield ahead of the new season.
