Liverpool left shell-shocked as Chelsea hijack £84m striker Deal

Liverpool are in the market for a number 9, and a significant portion of their budget has been set aside for a top striker ahead of the transfer window. However, if the Reds do not act fast, they risk watching a top target move to Chelsea in the coming weeks.

Arne Slot wants a new striker to lead the line next season, with Liverpool almost certain to sell Darwin Nunez in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Their pursuit of Florian Wirtz has grabbed the headlines, but the club still need a new number 9, and Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are working hard to secure one soon.

Several strikers are being assessed behind closed-door meetings, but a top target could now end up at Chelsea if Liverpool continue to remain indecisive on who they want.

Chelsea push to sign a top striker wanted at Anfield

Hugo Ekitike has probably played his last game for Eintracht Frankfurt after helping the team qualify for next season’s Champions League with his goals.

The German club have indicated that they are prepared to sell him this summer if the Frenchman feels he has outgrown the club.

Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the striker for months, and there is a growing feeling that he is the forward they want to sign in the upcoming transfer window.

However, according to RMC Sport, Chelsea have emerged as the favourites to land Ekitike in the summer.

The Blues need a striker, and they have now approached the forward’s representatives to negotiate a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool are also in contact with his camp, but at the moment, Chelsea are pushing harder to secure a deal for Ekitike.

Eintracht Frankfurt want a mammoth £84m before sanctioning his sale.
