Liverpool left fuming by ‘injured’ star joining national camp

Liverpool went into the international break with their early season momentum intact following another league win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The Reds are still sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 18 points from seven league games at the start of the new campaign.

Arne Slot has made a real impact and he is being credited for getting the best out of some of the Liverpool players whose futures at the club were under the scanner.

The Dutchman has won over the fans but there are also suggestions that the test of Liverpool’s title credentials will come after the break when they will take on Chelsea and Arsenal in back-to-back games.

The Reds would want all of their top players fit and ready for those games but eyebrows have been raised by one of their stars joining his national team camp this week.

Liverpool star lasted only 45 minutes at Crystal Palace but has joined the national team camp

Alexis Mac Allister has been a key part of the Liverpool midfield this season but picked up a groin injury in their 1-0 win at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

He didn’t come out after the break and the midfielder revealed after the game that he experienced a problem in his groin.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the player has linked up with the Argentinian national team in their camp in Miami.

Liverpool are likely to be annoyed that he had to travel to the United States soon after the league game on Saturday despite the groin injury.

Argentina are set to play against Venezuela and Bolivia in World Cup qualifiers during the international break and Mac Allister is a key player in the defending world champions’ team.

Liverpool would hope that Argentina’s medical team assess the player properly and that he is not risked in the games if he is still struggling with his groin.

The Reds would loath it if Mac Allister aggravates his injury on national team duty and misses games for Liverpool in the upcoming weeks.
