Liverpool Stun Arsenal with Shock Hijack of £68m Striker Deal

Liverpool have stunned Arsenal by hijacking a £68m striker deal, according to fresh reports from the transfer front. The player, who had been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, is now believed to be a top target for the Premier League champions. The shock twist has rocked Arsenal’s summer plans, and could escalate tensions between the two rivals in the transfer market.

The Premier League champions want to sign a striker this summer, and Alexander Isak is the top target for the club in the ongoing transfer window.

However, the Reds are considering alternatives and several strikers are being assessed as the club deliberate over their options ahead of making a move for a top target.

But it seems Liverpool are prepared to hijack a move planned by Arsenal for months to steal a top striker from under Mikel Arteta’s nose in a £68m deal.

Liverpool enter race to hijack Arsenal’s deal for £68m striker

According to Portuguese daily Correio de Manha, Liverpool have joined the race to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Manchester United are also interested in the striker, but Arsenal are the favourites to sign the Swedish hitman in the ongoing transfer window.

Liverpool have been in contact with Sporting Lisbon and the player’s representatives to get information on the conditions of a deal.

The Premier League champions believe they can beat Arsenal to the signature of the striker if they make a concrete move to land him this summer.

Gyokeres’s relationship with Sporting Lisbon has hit rock bottom after the club went back on their promise to sell him for a £55m fee.

The Portuguese giants now want £68m before agreeing to sell the striker, and it has led to a rift between Sporting Lisbon and the striker, who scored 54 goals in all competitions last season.
