Liverpool to Sign £85m Striker at Cut-Price Fee

Liverpool are set to sign an £85m striker at a cut-price fee, marking one of the smartest deals of the transfer window so far. With the player’s value expected to drop due to market conditions, the Reds’ patience is set to pay off in the coming weeks as they push to pull off a transfer masterstroke.

Liverpool are in the market for a new number 9 this summer, and Newcastle United hitman Alexander Isak is by far their priority target for that position.

The Merseyside giants are fencing around a deal for the Swede, and the Magpies are worried about receiving a mammoth bid from the Premier League champions in July for the striker.

However, a deal could be difficult to agree upon, and Liverpool are also working on pulling off another masterstroke by trying to sign an £85m striker for a reduced fee later in the window.

Liverpool plot to sign £85m striker Hugo Ekitike for a cut-price fee

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in getting their hands on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike in the ongoing transfer window.

However, the German club’s £85m asking price has prevented a deal from getting through this summer.

But journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Liverpool would step up their efforts to sign the Frenchman later in the window if they failed to sign Isak.

He stressed that the Reds are smart operators and are well aware that Eintracht will be forced to drop their price for Ekitike later in the transfer window.

“I think the reality is that Frankfurt are waiting for Liverpool, and Liverpool are first determining whether Isak is genuinely feasible”, Ben Jacobs said on the United Stand YouTube channel.

“If he’s not, I think there’s a fair chance that Liverpool significantly up their efforts to sign Hugo Ekitike, because they’re great readers of the market and they will wait longer because the feeling is that by mid-July or early August, that price for Ekitike will drop.”
