Liverpool handed major injury news

Liverpool manager Arne Slot offered key updates regarding Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister's injuries

Liverpool hope to pick three more points when they host Aston Villa on Saturday night and go into the last international break of the year at the summit of the Premier League table.

The Merseyside giants are grappling with a few injuries at the moment but they have not allowed them to affect their ability to get results on the pitch.

However, Arne Slot hopes to get some of his top players back on the pitch as soon as possible as the games are going to come thick and fast after the international break this month.

Alisson Becker, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are all out injured and none of them will be available for the game against Aston Villa this weekend.

However, Slot has been able to provide a certain time frame for the return of one of his key players to the first-team setting again in the coming weeks.

Jota has been Slot’s preferred forward this season and he was played ahead of Darwin Nunez when he was fit.

However, the Portuguese has been missing over the last few weeks and the club confirmed last month that he won’t be back before the November international break.

But there were no clarifications on when exactly he will be fit to play with Slot recently complaining about the lack of numbers up front.

The Liverpool manager has now claimed that the forward will be back in the squad a week or two after the international break.

He refused to get into the details of his recovery but insisted that Jota is very much on the road to recovery and will be back in the team for the busy winter fixture list.

“We expect him back after the international break… the first weeks after the international break we expect him back”, Slot said in a press conference.

“I always say in Holland there is privacy about this and I don’t know how it is over here. Like I just said, he will be back one or two weeks after the international break.”
