Liverpool face Newcastle in the League Cup final in two weeks.
The reds have been in fine form over the last month. Liverpool lost just one game in February. It was in the FA cup in a shock defeat to Plymouth. Arne Slot decided to rotate his team for that game, and it backfired. However, the Dutch coach explained that he has no regrets over that decision:
”I’ve explained it already a few times that that’s the biggest reason why I didn’t take these players to Plymouth Argyle because then they have to travel again, they are away from home, they might have to play 10, 15, 30, 45 minutes because I would definitely have used them if I would have taken them – and that means for them no rest.”
Liverpool are still in contention to win the treble at the end of the season. The club have a gap on top of the Premier League and are in action in the Champions League midweek.

Liverpool handed huge boost

The reds are not in action this weekend after their exit to Plymouth in the FA Cup. Liverpool managed two huge results within the same week. A win away at the Etihad and a big win over Newcastle at Anfield meant that the reds ended this week 13 points on top of the Premier League. Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai secured a 2-0 win.
Liverpool will face Newcastle again in the League Cup final in two weeks. However, the reds have already been handed a huge advantage before a ball has been kicked. Magpies attacker Anthony Gordon was sent off in the club’s FA Cup 5th round tie against Brighton. In the 83rd minute of the game, Gordon was sent off for violent conduct. The game ended 1-1 in regular time, but a goal from Danny Welbeck in extra time won the game for the seagulls.

Gordon’s sending off means that he will be unavailable for the League Cup final against Liverpool. The forward has been key for the Magpies this season, with nine goals and six assists in all competitions.
Big final ahead
Arne Slot could win his first trophy of the season in two weeks. The Dutch coach has done a fantastic job since he took over from Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool have given the fans something to cherish this season. It would be even better if they could end it with silverware.
Winning a treble at the end of the season could keep someone like Mohamed Salah at the club, the 32-year old is set to leave at the end of his contract this summer.
