Liverpool are approaching the January transfer window in a strong position. The club are not against signing anyone this winter but they are not desperate for reinforcements at this stage.
The Merseyside giants believe there is enough depth in their squad to sustain a title challenge in the latter half of the season. Arne Slot is happy with the state of his team and feels he will have more options to work with in the coming weeks with players set to come back from injury.
However, Liverpool also want to be more flexible and they are prepared to do business if a long-term target becomes available in the market this winter.
The Reds do not want a repeat of last summer when they were accused of being lethargic in the market and they are looking to be more proactive to secure targets if they become available in January.
Liverpool have had their eyes on a forward in the Dutch Eredivisie and they have been plotting a move for him but he is unlikely to switch clubs in January.
Club take a tough stance on Reds target’s future

PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi has been in good form this season, scoring six times in the Eredivisie and has attracted the attention of Liverpool.
His performances in the Netherlands have led to comparisons with former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and the Reds have been exploring a deal to sign him in January.
However, according to Eindhovens Dagblad, Pepi is not available for a transfer in the winter window.
The forward indicated during the international break that he could be open to a move to a bigger club but it has done little to change plans at PSV.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
The Dutch giants do not want to entertain offers for the United States international in January as they are not interested in selling him in the middle of the season.
PSV are prepared to even ignore offers in the region of €30m for Pepi and are determined to hold on to him until the end of the ongoing campaign.
They are only likely to listen to offers for him next summer and are ready to reject any bids for the striker in the January transfer window.
