Liverpool fume as Newcastle hijack £60m deal for Brazil’s ‘Next Neymar’

The Merseyside giants are in the market for forwards, and the club have been assessing several options ahead of focusing on a certain target in the coming weeks. However, one of those options could soon move to Newcastle United if Liverpool do not light a fire under their approach soon.

The pursuit of Florian Wirtz has grabbed the headlines and attention this summer, but Liverpool still have a couple of huge priorities to sort out this summer.

Dean Huijsen’s decision to snub the Reds in favour of a move to Real Madrid last month means the club are still in the market for a centre-back in the ongoing transfer window.

However, the biggest priority is still to sign a new number 9 who will lead the line next season, as Darwin Nunez will be sold sooner or later this summer.

Newcastle United set to steal a much-admired Liverpool target

Joao Pedro is expected to leave Brighton this summer due to interest from clubs in the Premier League and abroad.

He is one of the forwards Liverpool have been closely tracking, and the club are likely to move for him if they decide to bring in someone with Premier League experience.

However, a final decision has not been made yet, and according to Football Insider, Newcastle are prepared to pounce and take him to St. James’ Park.

The Magpies want to bring in proper support for Alexander Isak, who remains Liverpool’s number one forward target, and see Pedro as the perfect foil for the Swede.

But Newcastle would have to fork out big cash for him as Brighton want to double the £30m they spent on him in 2023.

The Seagulls want as much as £60m before agreeing to sell the Brazilian forward in the ongoing transfer window.
