Sam Beukema has two years left on his contract at Bologna, but he is almost certain to leave the Serie A club after a stellar last season.
Bologna ended their more than 50-year wait for a major trophy last season when they won the Italian Cup, and the Dutchman was at the heart of their success.
Napoli are interested in taking him to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, but according to Quotidiano Sportivo, the defender has also emerged as a target for Liverpool.
Arne Slot is aware of his compatriot’s talent and is pushing the club to secure a deal to take Beukema to Anfield this summer.
He is available for a more than reasonable price as Bologna are ready to accept offers in the region of £25m in the ongoing transfer window.
Beukema is still only 26 and could develop as the long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.
