Liverpool are in the market for centre-backs and have been looking at several options as they seek to settle on a top target soon. It appears the Merseyside giants are now considering making a move for a Serie A centre-back who is available at a bargain price this summer.
The Merseyside giants had a few priorities going into the summer transfer window, and signing a centre-back is one of the key goals ahead of the start of the new season.
Liverpool made a strong pitch to sign Dean Huijsen, but the Spanish defender decided to leave the Premier League and join Real Madrid at the end of last season.
The Reds have been linked with players in the Premier League, but there are suggestions the club are now looking to pick up a smart deal from Serie A this summer.

The Merseyside giants have their eyes on a Dutchman in Italy

Sam Beukema has two years left on his contract at Bologna, but he is almost certain to leave the Serie A club after a stellar last season.
Bologna ended their more than 50-year wait for a major trophy last season when they won the Italian Cup, and the Dutchman was at the heart of their success.
Napoli are interested in taking him to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, but according to Quotidiano Sportivo, the defender has also emerged as a target for Liverpool.
Arne Slot is aware of his compatriot’s talent and is pushing the club to secure a deal to take Beukema to Anfield this summer.
He is available for a more than reasonable price as Bologna are ready to accept offers in the region of £25m in the ongoing transfer window.
Beukema is still only 26 and could develop as the long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.
