Liverpool are close to losing another first team star this summer.
The club already have their hands full this season. Liverpool are yet to resolve the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk. Fans at Anfield have already voiced their frustrations with these developments. Especially after the trio have massively contributed to the success on the pitch this season.
Aside player performances, Arne Slot has been the catalyst this year. Getting close to the end of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure, the squad lacked confidence and looked underwhelming. The arrival of Slot has turned the club’s fortunes around. The former Feyenoord boss is hoping to push the club to win a treble in his first season in charge.
This week, Liverpool took one step closer to that dream when they beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Quiz: Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
Liverpool star yet to agree to new contract

The reds went away to Paris and ended a 22-match unbeaten streak. PSG had been on a run of 10 straight wins before Liverpool won 1-0 on Wednesday night. The reds now take a lead to Anfield where they await the French champions in the second leg tie. Ahead of the game, PSG midfielder Vitinha has already promised his club’s fans of a victory in England.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool had their defence to thank. The back four and goalkeeper kept the team in the game for long stretches before Harvey Elliot scored the winner. Ibrahima Konate continued his wonderful run of form. The defender has strung together solid performances against Manchester City and Newcastle over the past week. His game against PSG was no different.
According to the Daily Mail, the 25-year old is not close to agreeing a new deal at Anfield. Konate revealed earlier this season that he had a contract offer on the table. This revelation will surely be a cause for concern. The defender has just one year left on his current deal. It has been made clear that he is a priority target for clubs in Europe, including PSG. Real Madrid have also reportedly joined the race.
Reds need to act fast
As it stands, Liverpool could lose both Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer. If Konate leaves, it would be an even bigger blow as his deal is yet to expire. Liverpool are now in a tough situation; do they sell Konate or risk him leaving on a free transfer next year. The club need to fix up and not repeat the same mistakes of the past.
