Liverpool are set for a huge summer transfer window.
The club are set to be very active in the upcoming window, and have set aside a huge sum for transfers. Liverpool have their hands full with a few months left till the end of the season. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are out of contract this summer. All three could leave on free transfers this summer.
Trent has already reportedly made his decision, as he has chosen to join Real Madrid. Reports claim he is set to sign a five-year deal with the Spanish giants.
Salah and Van Dijk are yet to sign new deals, but there is hope one of them may stay at Anfield this summer. The Liverpool captain said in an interview that no one knows about his future:
“If there is news, you guys will know it. I don’t even know myself. Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes but that is about it. At the moment, I don’t even know what will happen next year. If anyone says they do know, they are lying to your face.”

The reds will be looking to revamp the squad ahead of next season. Arne Slot will be working alongside Richard Hughes to secure new signings. The Liverpool boss has prioritized signing a defender and an attacker, with Salah and Van Dijk’s potential departures in mind. Losing the duo alongside Trent would be a huge blow, as none of them would command a transfer fee.
However, there is a way Liverpool could make some money off of Alexander-Arnold. This summer, a new version of FIFA’s Club World Cup will take place. Because of this, FIFA have created a special interim period that will allow clubs in the tournament to make transfers. The window would start on June 1 and run for 10 days. Clubs will also be allowed to extend contracts outside of the traditional registration period due to the scheduled July 13 date for the final.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract will expire on June 30th, leaving him as a free agent on 1st July. With Real Madrid competing at the Club World Cup, there is a scenario that could sell Liverpool sell the defender before the competition. Trent would not command a huge fee, but making any amount of the academy graduate would be better than losing him for nothing. The move would depend on Madrid being desperate enough to play Alexander-Arnold in the competition this summer.
