Arne Slot suffered a huge blow in the Bournemouth game as Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up an injury. The defender went down and called for a substitution immediately around the 70th minute. After the game, the reds boss was unsure of the extent of the injury. Federico Chiesa and Joe Gomez missed the Bournemouth game. And Trent could now be set for a spell on the sidelines.
With the transfer deadline on Monday, Liverpool could make a move if Trent’s injury is long-term. According to Record, Sporting wingback Geovany Quenda could be set to join Liverpool. The teenager had been reportedly linked with a move to Manchester United. Quenda is set to be valued around €60million.
David Ornstein revealed that Manchester United have been in contact with the player since last summer. Ruben Amorim handed the player his Sporting debut, and could play a huge part in bringing him to England.
Manchester City were also linked with the 17-year old, with Hugo Viana joining the club as Director of Football, from Sporting. City loaned out Kyle Walker to AC Milan last week, and are planning to replace the 34-year old this summer.
Should Reds make big money transfer?
Come this summer, Liverpool could have a massive transfer budget. Replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold would be a priority. The right back has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, with a contract offer from the Spanish giants on the table.
Quenda is young, energetic and is a very productive player on the flanks. He could be the Reds’ answer if Trent leaves the club. However, Liverpool would need to pay a huge fee, with multiple clubs in the race for the youngster.
