Liverpool had their season end in one week before the international break.
As of last month, the reds were in great form and were challenging on all fronts. There was confidence that the team could make a push to win the treble this season. A healthy lead on top of the Premier League meant Liverpool could focus on the Champions League and League Cup final.
However, in the space of a week, the reds were knocked out of both competitions. After scoring just two goals over these three games, the need for this summer became much more apparent.

Liverpool set to sign Champions League star

Arne Slot has reportedly requested for new players in the Liverpool attack. Outside Mohamed Salah, the other options have been very underwhelming this season. Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez are expected to be made available this summer to make way for new additions to the squad.
Liverpool could add this major target to the team on a free transfer. According to Empire of the Kop, the reds are serious contenders to sign Lille striker Jonathan David. The Canadian international is out of contract at the end of the season. David has already voiced his eagerness to play at the highest level, which most people have hinted at to be the Premier League:
“I’m not sure if I’m staying or going, but if I do end up going I think I have to push myself at the very highest level.” He added, “When you play for a big club your position is never guaranteed and you have to fight… I’m never guaranteed anywhere I go to start every game. I have to perform. I’m willing to fight. I know it’s an important year, it’s a big decision, so I’ll make a wise decision.”
Jonathan David has 21 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season. The 25-year old has scored against Real Madrid, Dortmund and Juventus in the Champions League this season. David also found the back of the net at Anfield in January when the two sides met in the group phase.
