The list of players set to leave Liverpool this summer continues to grow.
Over the past week, Ibrahima Konate has been subject to interest from Paris Saint-Germain. Luis Diaz is also in the news. The Colombian is pushing to sign a new deal with Liverpool. However, the club have put talks on hold as they focus on the current players in the first team.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could all leave Anfield in the summer. Liverpool are set to push to keep the three players at the end of the season. So contract talks with other first team stars have been put on hold in recent weeks.
The trio are not the only ones set to leave. Liverpool have a few contracts expiring in 2026, including Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.

Liverpool and Manchester City to battle for star defender

The reds will be looking to beef up their defence ahead of next season. Liverpool could lose two central defenders in the same window. Virgil Van Dijk’s contract is up in the coming months. Ibrahima Konate has also been targeted by Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
This has lead to Liverpool targeting Feyenoord defender David Hancko. Arne Slot is also said to be a big fan of the 27-year old defender. Journalist Suleyman Ozturk admitted on Voetbal International that Slot could re-unite with his former player:
“There is a boy who should actually be playing for Atletico or Arsenal. That is why you are through [to the Round of 16].
“If they [other teams] can pick a Feyenoord player, top clubs and top coaches will end up with him. Where can he go? Liverpool! Arne Slot wants him of course. Why not Liverpool? You have to aim high; he is that good.”
Atletico Madrid reportedly failed with a bid to sign the defender before the start of the season. After his performances this season he has increased his number of suitors. According to reports, Juventus, Chelsea and Tottenham could join the race to sign the Feyenoord man this summer.
David Hancko could be a bargain
As this summer draws closer the need for reinforcements becomes quite clear. Liverpool could lose three of the starting four in defence. If Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk leave this summer, and Ibrahima Konate is sold, Liverpool would need three new signings in defence.
David Hancko’s versatility makes him a more intriguing target. The Feyenoord defender can slot in at left back. That position is also a concern, with Andrew Robertson’s contract up in 2026. Liverpool could cover two positions by signing the 27-year old this summer.
Hancko is still experienced and has played under Arne Slot. Adaptation would not really be a problem for him heading into next season.
