It has been reported that the reds are actively working on signings in the summer. Liverpool will be active in the market, especially with the potential departures of some players. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk are out of contract at the end of the season.
After the Spurs game, Van Dijk rubbished reports of him extending his contract.
One of the players Liverpool have a long standing interest in is Anthony Gordon. The Newcastle United winger has been linked with the reds over the last year. According to Caught Offside, Gordon is the number one target to replace Mohamed Salah.
The 23-year old scored in the win over Arsenal to send the Magpies to Wembley. After the game, Gordon made some comments referencing the Arsenal-Manchester City game last weekend:
“It feels amazing. A proper team performance and we got the win,” Gordon told Sky Sports.
“Our fans are never in question; they make it so difficult for the opposition and we did it the right way.
“We had a game plan we thought would work. Everyone knows we press.”
The goalscorer added the ‘stay humble’ line, which Erling Haaland used to antagonize Mikel Arteta earlier in the season.
“It is important for us to stay humble now. It will be a big occasion but it’s so far away.”
Gordon will have the ultimate audition against the reds in the League Cup final in March.
What will it take to sign Anthony Gordon?
With Newcastle United facing PSR problems, they could be forced into selling some of their best players. Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon could all be sold to balance the books.
Gordon is said to be valued around £75million, the fee that was mentioned when Liverpool made an offer for the England international last summer according to The Athletic.
