Liverpool could have been handed a boost after the transfer window.
The Reds did not sign any players during the January transfer window. On deadline day, the club was able to move a few players out on loan. In total, eight players left Anfield during the past month. Marcelo Pitaluga, Tom Hill and Luca Furnell-Gill left on permanent deals. While Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic, Dominic Corness, Kaide Gordon and Jayden Danns left on loan deals.
Liverpool still sit top of the Premier League with six points and a game in hand ahead of Arsenal. Arne Slot has exceeded all expectations, fans and pundits alike thought the reds would finish around the top four.
Quiz: Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
Forward could return to Liverpool

The number 9 role in the team this season has been a strange story. Arne Slot preferred Diogo Jota in a central role ahead of Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan has played in the cups this season, and made only seven Premier League starts. Even when Jota got injured, Slot preferred to use Luis Diaz up top. It looked like Nunez was on his way out of the club, and the striker was even linked to a move away. Saudi Pro League clubs offered big money but Liverpool rejected any offers. It has now been reported that the club will assess Nunez at the end of the season to make a decision on his future.
Liverpool have now been handed a golden opportunity. Roberto Firmino has been left out of Al Hilal’s squad for the rest of the Saudi Pro League this season. The forward will only be available to play in the Asian Champions League. Earlier in the transfer window, Firmino ruled out any moves away from Saudi Arabia. Now, he could change his mind. Fabrizio Romano reports that clubs are ready to make an approach for the Brazilian.

It is highly likely that Firmino will have his contract terminated in order to leave the Saudi Pro League club. Currently, the transfer window is closed across most of Europe.
Could Firmino return to Anfield?
The Liverpool squad needs that spark up top. It has been clear since the start of the campaign. With Jota out of the team, there has been no cutting edge. Even though Firmino is 33-years old, he can still do a job for the next four months.
Though it is highly unlikely, Liverpool could explore the potential for a return.
