The summer transfer window is going to be an interesting time for Liverpool.
The reds have reportedly put any business on hold until the end of the season. It was part of the reason that only one new first team signing has arrived since last August. Federico Chiesa joined from Juventus before the season began. New boss Arne Slot has had to work with the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.
A lot of Liverpool fans had concerns about the team over the past few years. Losing Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho was hard on the team. New signings Ryan Gravenberch, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szobozslai arrived in the next few windows.
The players had a difficult time settling, and most of them had been ruled as flops. However, this season under Arne Slot has transformed some of these players. Diaz and Gakpo are thriving in attack while Gravenberch and MacAllister have arguably been the best midfield duo in the Premier League.

Despite how well some of the first team stars have performed this campaign, the reds are actively working on transfers for the summer. Liverpool decided to hold on to their key players in January despite concrete offers. Saudi Pro League clubs had their bids rejected for Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. The reds also shut down an offer from Real Madrid for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool have made a last attempt to convince the right back to sign a new deal at Anfield.
Among Liverpool’s transfer targets for this summer is Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. The 30-year old is set to leave the club on a free when his contract ends. Bayern have made attempts to renew the German’s deal, after recently tying down Alphonso Davies on a long-term contract.
Bayern Munich director Max Eberl revealed that the club is still negotiating with Kimmich. Eberl also warned that the Bundesliga side will not wait forever:
“New deal? Of course we know that we can’t wait forever, but we want to give Joshua a bit of time and let his thoughts mature that Bayern Munich is the club where he wants to continue,” Eberl said.
“That’s legitimate.”
According to reports, Liverpool have been in contact with Joshua Kimmich since January. Personal talks have been mentioned, but nothing is yet to be agreed.
