Heartbreaking Trent Alexander-Arnold contract update

The Trent Alexander-Arnold contract situation at Liverpool is growing grimmer by the day as the club come close to accepting that the defender is likely on his way out of the club next summer.

The 26-year-old is one of the greatest success stories of the club’s academy and is seen as a future captain at Liverpool but that is unlikely to become a reality now.

His current deal runs out at the end of the season and Liverpool are nowhere close to reaching an agreement over a new contract with the player and his representatives.

Negotiations have been ongoing for months between the two sides but there is now a real feeling that the defender will run down his contract and leave on a free transfer next summer.

Real Madrid have been in contact with his agents for months and they are growing more and more confident of signing the defender on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The two clubs agree on one thing about the Trent Alexander-Arnold contract saga

There has been talk of Real Madrid making a move for him in the winter window but the Spanish giants do not want to disrespect Liverpool.

The relationship between the two clubs is excellent and Real Madrid do not want to disrupt that by making an underhanded approach to Alexander-Arnold.

However, according to Marca, officials of both clubs now agree that the defender has no plans to sign a new contract with Liverpool.

Alexander-Arnold’s mind is made up and he is now prepared to move on from the Merseyside giants on a free transfer at the end of the season.

With the defender almost certain to leave, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool open up to the idea of selling him in the January transfer window.

The Merseyside giants have been preparing for his departure and have already identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong as his replacement.

Alexander-Arnold wants to win the Ballon d’Or and feels Real Madrid will provide him with the perfect platform to take his career to the next level in the coming years.
