FSG sanction shock historic transfer as Liverpool smash records for summer arrival

Liverpool are not known for paying silly money for any player, and that has been FSG’s way since taking charge of the club. However, that is set to change this summer, with the Americans set to pull the trigger on the biggest deal in the club’s history.

Winning the Premier League this season under Arne Slot has emboldened the club, and they are ready to show real ambition in the upcoming transfer window.

Jeremie Frimpong is set to arrive at Anfield soon from Bayer Leverkusen, and the club are also pushing to bring in a big-name striker before the start of the 2025/26 season.

However, Liverpool’s move for another player this summer has set the tongues wagging across Europe, and they are set to receive the seal of approval from the owners.

FSG approval for the biggest transfer in the club’s history is incoming

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes held talks with Florian Wirtz and his camp when they were in England last week.

Manchester City were also interested, but they have backed out of the race to sign him as they feel that the attacking midfielder would cost too much money.

However, the Merseyside giants are persisting, and according to Bild, Liverpool executives will fly out to Boston soon to gain approval from FSG.

Leverkusen want £126m for the Germany international, and Hughes wants his bosses’ approval from America before making such a massive offer for a player.

Bayern Munich believe they are still leading the race to sign him as they are the only club who have a contractual agreement in place with the attacking midfielder.

However, Liverpool are not shying away from the race, and with FSG almost certain to sanction the move, they are prepared to give one more option to Wirtz to ponder over this summer.
