Fabrizio Romano says there are “many things to discuss” before Salah contract extension

Liverpool and Mohamed Salah are both keen to sign a new deal that would keep him at the club beyond the end of the current season.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist said: “I can confirm once again that Liverpool and Mo Salah will talk in the next days, weeks, months.

“So I can’t predict now how long will be the conversation but there will be conversations to discuss the contract situation of Mo Salah. So it’s not over yet.

“At this point between Salah and Liverpool, it’s a possibility for Salah to go as a free agent this summer but it’s not guaranteed at all because Liverpool want to talk to Mo Salah and Salah wants to talk to Liverpool.

“Salah is very keen on discussing with Liverpool about the new project. He’s very happy with Arne Slot, the directors, the new mangement.

“So the discussion will take place, let’s see financially, in terms of project, in terms of the length of the contract. There are many things to discuss”.

The mood among Liverpool fans after full-time on Sunday was odd.

On one hand, supporters were ecstatic after a 3-0 win over their greatest rivals.

On the other, Mohamed Salah announced to Sky Sports at Old Trafford that he had yet to enter into contract extension talks and that this season would be his last at Liverpool.

Now, just a few days later, it would appear as though there is very little getting in the way of Salah putting pen to paper on a new deal.

It has always been plainly obvious just how much Salah loves Liverpool and that the only thing that would get in the way would be Liverpool themselves.

The sooner Salah signs a new deal, the sooner Liverpool can get back to football without distractions.
