Mohamed Salah is arguably one of the best wingers of the Premier League era. The Egyptian forward currently stands 10th on the list of all-time Premier League goal scorers.
Having risen in ranks at Liverpool, the 32-year-old winger always draws comparisons to former Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard. Young Salah arrived at Stamford Bridge when Hazard was at the peak of his powers.
The Belgian international isn’t much of a stats winger but choosing between the two is as difficult as the Messi vs Ronaldo debate. Many pundits have gone either way and now former Manchester City defender and football pundit Micah Richards has passed his verdict.
In The Rest is Football Podcast, Richards revealed that Eden Hazard is “a better all-round player” than Mohamed Salah. The fact that both wingers make for a different play style adds to the difficulty of the debate.
I think Hazard’s probably a better all-round player, I would say. But Salah’s a bit more devastating, you know, with his numbers and yeah, he’s a bit more prolific I would say and yeah, they are a little bit different.

However once in an interview with Sport Bible, Hazard himself made a surprising choice. When asked about who was better among them, the Belgian winger didn’t hesitate in taking Salah’s name.
The Eden Hazard vs Mohamed Salah debate
Having played in possibly the best league football has to offer, the two wingers are quite different in their approach to the beautiful game.
Mohamed Salah being more of a goal-scoring threat is always on the boards whereas Eden Hazard had a more playmaker-like role at Chelsea.
Salah’s time at Chelsea was nothing short of underwhelming. Both the wingers being teammates at the time, Hazard wouldn’t have imagined that this Egyptian would go on to break multiple records in world football.
Although, the Belgian winger couldn’t continue his form in Spain. After moving to Real Madrid, the former Lille prodigy lost his magic.
Mohamed Salah went through a redemption arc after his time at Stamford Bridge. He was sent on loan to Fiorentina where he reignited his sorcery.
Later on loan at Roma, The Wolves didn’t hesitate to bet on the African footballer. After making the deal permanent for the 2016-17 season, Salah garnered interest from Liverpool where he eventually moved.
Although the Egyptian bloomed late, his longevity is way ahead of Hazard. Eden was probably the greatest footballer in the world with Chelsea but the debate continues as both of them remain too good to be true in their prime.
