European giants ditch plans to sign £72m Liverpool star

The summer transfer window at Liverpool has taken another unexpected turn. A European powerhouse, long linked with a blockbuster £72m move for one of Jurgen Klopp’s top stars, has now backed out of the deal. The sudden change of heart has left fans stunned and sparked speculation about what it means for Liverpool’s next move in the market.

Liverpool are set to spend a British record transfer fee to sign Florian Wirtz in the coming days and are closing in on a deal to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

The club are now considering a few player sales to balance their books, and a few of their stars have also attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

However, a top European club have made a big decision to not pursue the signature of a Liverpool star despite making attempts to snare him away from Anfield.

Liverpool rejected Barcelona’s approach for Diaz last week, but it did little to deter the Catalan giants from unsettling the winger at Anfield.

Diaz has rejected an offer of a new deal from Liverpool and has been pushing for a dream move to the Nou Camp in the ongoing transfer window.

However, according to transfer journalist Krrish, Barcelona have withdrawn their interest in the 28-year-old winger this summer.

They wanted to sign him and pushed hard to negotiate a transfer, but were ultimately defeated by Liverpool sticking to their asking price for Diaz.

The Merseyside giants didn’t want to sell him for less than £72m, while Barcelona were only prepared to offer somewhere around £51m.

Diaz tried to convince Liverpool to drop their asking price, but ultimately failed, and Barcelona have withdrawn their interest.
