Liverpool hold secret talks with Alexander Isak in a shock twist

Alexander Isak is seen as the £100m striker solution for Liverpool, deemed as Torres 2.0

In a major twist to the summer transfer saga, Liverpool have held secret talks with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. The Reds are believed to be weighing a big-money move as Arne Slot looks to revamp the frontline, and this clandestine approach suggests something big could be brewing at Anfield.

Liverpool identified Alexander Isak as their number one striker target months back, but they have been trying to find a small breakthrough in negotiations for a while.

Newcastle do not want to sell the striker, and are working to convince the forward to sign a new contract to secure his future at the club for the moment.

However, Liverpool have not given up on Isak yet, and have continued to probe to try and find a way to convince the striker to greenlight a move to Anfield in the ongoing transfer window.

Liverpool hold talks with Alexander Isak

Newcastle’s insistence on not wanting to sell Isak has done little to discourage Liverpool, who are keen to keep trying to sign him this summer.

According to transfer journalist Krrish, the Merseyside giants recently held talks with Isak and his representatives over a potential switch to Anfield.

The talks were centred around whether the forward would be receptive to a move to Liverpool this summer.

The conversations between the two sides were positive, but Liverpool didn’t offer him any potential contract at this stage.

Newcastle are still insistent that Isak is not for sale, and any deal would be dependent on the forward handing in a transfer request, and Liverpool offering a British record transfer fee.

At this stage, it seems unlikely that the forward would be trying to force a move away from Newcastle or Liverpool offering silly money for him.

However, Liverpool are expected to keep probing for him in the coming weeks.
