Liverpool travel to London tomorrow as the Reds face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before the October international break. Arne Slot will also have to manage without Alisson Becker and is uncertain about Federico Chiesa and Hugo Ekitike.
Alisson went down against Galatasaray as the Dutch gaffer had hoped the worst, and his nightmares did come true. Today, he confirmed the goalkeeper’s unavailability as the Brazilian also won’t join his national team during the international break.
“Alisson is not a part of the squad tomorrow. And he’s not going to travel to Brazil as well for the national team. So, he will be out for Saturday.”
The situation is still uncertain regarding Chiesa and Ekitike, though. The French striker also got himself injured against Cimbom, and the Italian winger had suffered a knock against Crystal Palace.
“Hugo is going to train today again, and let’s see where he is, and the same can be said for Federico. We have to wait and see after the session where exactly they are.”
Chelsea injury updates as Maresca will miss seven to eight players

Chelsea will be welcoming the Reds after a 1-0 win against Benfica on Tuesday. The Merseysiders, on the other hand, have lost two games in a row, including a loss against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.
However, in the pre-match press conference, Blues gaffer Enzo Maresca confirmed that Chelsea will miss seven or eight players against Slot’s men.
Talking about the Londoners’ star boy, Cole Palmer, Maresca said he doesn’t have any updates, but he’ll definitely be out against Liverpool.
“Cole is still out. I don’t have any updates at the moment. We have a meeting this week to see how he is, and we will then decide”, the Italian told the press.

More injuries and returning players
The former Leicester City head coach will also be without centre-back Trevoh Chalobah as the Englishman received a red card against the Blues’ last Premier League clash against Brighton.
“Trevoh is also suspended, and we have seven or eight players out for tomorrow’s game”, continued Maresca. Despite the chaos, the Italian used Benoit Badisahsile against Benfica.
The Frenchman suffered a muscle injury in the FIFA Club World Cup in July 2025. He spent almost three months outside competitive football and made a return against Brighton and Hove Albion.
After making a substitute appearance against the Seagulls, he started the game against Benfica and might do the same against Liverpool on Saturday.
