Liverpool face Chelsea tomorrow, as the Reds will look to regain their old form following two losses in a row.
The Merseysiders had started the season on not the best of notes as they lost against Crystal Palace in an FA Community Shield game. The match ended 2-2, and the Eagles won on penalties.
Things changed after that, though, as Liverpool went on a seven-game unbeaten run across all competitions. However, when Arne Slot’s men revisited London, they didn’t leave the capital in the same form.
An injury-time winner from Eddie Nketiah meant the Reds had just lost their first game in the English Premier League this season.
Then the Merseysiders visited Turkey to face Galatasaray. They received a hostile welcome as fans lit firecrackers at 2 am near the team’s hotel.
The Reds had to play the game groggy, and the game ended 1-0 as Victor Osimhen didn’t miss the chance to capitalise from the spot.

Arne Slot press conference

Speaking to the press a day before the Chelsea clash, Slot revealed that Alisson Becker won’t be a part of the team for a long time. He spoke about the new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili’s role tomorrow against the Blues.
“I think we’ve seen against Southampton how well he’s adjusted. We knew that we were bringing in a very good goalkeeper. But when he plays his first game, that’s always the best way of seeing that he’s adjusted well or not – and I think we’ve seen in that game that he’s adjusted really well to our goal, which is not a surprise because he’s a quality goalkeeper.”
The Dutchman also spoke about player reactions after the Crystal Palace loss, as the Eagles are the only team that’ve beaten the Reds twice this season.
“If the reaction is after you lose against Palace, you lose another game, you can argue if that is positive. But I saw a team that wanted to try, from the first second until the last second, everything to get a result.”
Alexander Isak was also the talk of the town. Despite having been the most expensive signing in British football history, his fitness is still in question following the saga.
“I said to him when he started that the difficult thing will be you will have your appearances, like you just said, but if you add the minutes together, probably only have two or three 90-minute games”, Slot told the press.
