It has been quite a week for Liverpool in the Premier League.
The reds dropped points midweek against Everton. Liverpool ended up drawing their game in hand on Wednesday night. Everton sprung a surprise as they took the lead early in the game. Beto scored from quick thinking on a set piece in the first half. Alexis Mac Allister equalized as he found himself heading home a Mohamed Salah cross to level the scores.
Salah scored what Liverpool thought was the winner in the 73rd minute. James Tarkowski scored a late equalizer as the team shared the points in the last ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. The reds were furious that the goal was not ruled out, after Ibrahima Konate was pushed when challenging for a header before the goal.

England FA release statement after Liverpool game

The Everton game ended in controversy, as Michael Oliver was the topic of discussion. The referee gave out three red cards after the final whistle on Wednesday. Curtis Jones, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Arne Slot all received their marching orders in a post-match scuffle.
Sunday’s game against Wolves was also marred in controversy. Simon Hooper was involved in multiple controversial incidents. The referee failed to send off Ibrahima Konate after he made a cynical foul on Matheus Cunha near the box. Hooper also failed to book Diogo Jota for simulation as VAR reversed a penalty decision. Liverpool ended up winning the game 2-1, maintaining their seven point lead on top of the table.
The England FA published a statement after the game, citing the post-match incidents that occured:
”Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff have been charged following the Premier League fixture between the clubs on Wednesday, 12 February. It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way following the final whistle.
The Liverpool manager allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee after the match had finished.”
Liverpool, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff have until Wednesday to respond to the charges.
What does this mean for Arne Slot?
Depending on the outcome, Slot could find himself facing a touchline ban. This would be a huge blow especially in the middle of a title race. Liverpool’s next few fixtures include big games against Manchester City and Newcastle United.
In other news, Saudi Pro League clubs have made shocking accusations against Mohamed Salah.
