Club would prefer to sell €100m midfielder ‘abroad’ amidst interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City

Liverpool manager Arne Slot offered key updates regarding Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister's injuries

A scintillating start to the season has allowed Liverpool manager Arne Slot to win over the fans and get over the disappointment of the summer transfer window.

Slot wanted to sign a defensive midfielder last summer and the club heavily courted Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad but the player decided to stay put in Spain.

Liverpool’s failure to recruit an elite midfielder disappointed the fans but the Reds manager repurposed Ryan Gravenberch to play at the base of the midfield.

The club still want to bring in a midfielder in the winter window but they are also planning ahead for the summer transfer window as well.

Liverpool want to be in the market for the best young talents and one of those players is expected to change clubs at the end of the ongoing season.

Florian Wirtz is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen and is wanted at Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool have been tipped to have an outside chance of landing him but the club are remaining vigilant and are keeping tabs on the situation.

Leverkusen want to sell the Liverpool target to a club outside Germany

Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Wirtz and are claimed to be the favourites to sign him next summer.

The Germany international is leaning towards a move to the Bavarians but according to Sky Deutschland, Leverkusen have different plans.

The German champions do not want to sell one of their best players to their rivals and are keen to move Wirtz outside Germany if he leaves next summer.

They successfully managed to hold on to Jonathan Tah in the summer despite interest from Bayern Munich.

With clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid interested in him, Leverkusen would prefer to see Wirtz move to a different league next summer.

A transfer fee of €100m to €150m is said to be required before Leverkusen would agree to sell the player at the end of the season.
