Liverpool settle on steep price tag for star wanted at three Premier League clubs

Liverpool are looking to be active in the market in the January transfer window after a lacklustre summer for the Merseyside giants.

Arne Slot has made a rousing start to life as Liverpool manager with his side now sitting at the summit of the Premier League table after seven games.

Liverpool failed to sign the defensive midfielder they wanted in the summer, which led to disappointment in the fanbase who were already uncertain about the future following Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the season.

However, Slot has calmed nerves on Merseyside and his use of Ryan Gravenberch has managed to hide the team’s need for an elite defensive midfielder.

But Liverpool are keen to back him with funds in the market and are prepared to spend money to land the elite number 6 that Slot and the recruitment team wanted in the summer.

Liverpool will need to find space in their squad and wage bill for a new player and are prepared to sell Wataru Endo in the January transfer window.

Premier League trio chasing Endo, Liverpool want a considerable fee from his sale

The Reds are planning to use the proceeds raised from Endo’s potential departure to part-fund a move for an elite number 6 in the January transfer window.

According to CaughtOffSide, Liverpool want anywhere between €15m and €20m before agreeing to part ways with the Japanese international.

As many as three Premier League clubs in Ipswich Town, Fulhama and Wolves are showing an interest in the midfielder ahead of the winter window.

Endo performed reasonably well in his first season under Jurgen Klopp but has found himself at the fringes of the first-team squad under Slot.

Liverpool are hopeful that interest from clubs in the Premier League would help them to get the fee they want from his sale.

Marseille made an offer for the midfielder in the summer but their €14m bid was rejected by the Reds.

Despite the riches available to the Premier League clubs, it remains to be seen if anyone would be prepared to fork out more than €15m for a player who will turn 32 in February.
