Club to offer bumper pay rise to 21-year-old midfielder who is wanted at Liverpool and Manchester City

Liverpool are keen to not repeat the mistakes of the last summer transfer window and are planning ahead to identify key targets for the future.

Arne Slot and his team have allowed the Liverpool hierarchy to escape deeper scrutiny for an underwhelming summer through their scintillating start to the season.

Liverpool are sitting at the top of the Premier League table ahead of the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal after seven league games.

The Reds missed out on signing a defensive midfielder in the summer and are expected to be active in the market during the January transfer window.

However, Liverpool are also planning further ahead and are keeping tabs on several young and talented players across Europe.

Jamal Musiala is one of the big talents who are being watched by the Merseyside giants given his contract situation at Bayern Munich.

He will enter the final year of his deal next summer and the German giants are keen to avoid that situation by agreeing on a new contract with his representatives.

Manchester City are also interested in Musiala but the Bavarians remain confident of agreeing on fresh terms with the 21-year-old midfielder.

Bayern Munich prepared to make the Liverpool target one of the best-paid players in the squad

The German giants do not want to lose a player of Musiala’s talent and are not prepared to cut any corners in negotiations with his representatives.

The midfielder is currently earning around €8m to €9m per year but according to Sky Deutschland, the German giants are ready to offer him a mega-deal.

Bayern Munich are prepared to offer a deal worth up to €25m per year to Musiala to convince him to stay at the Allianz Arena.

If he signs such a contract it would make him the second-best-paid player in the squad just below England captain Harry Kane.

He would be earning more than club legend Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller who are on contracts worth €20m per year.

Another positive news for Bayern Munich is that his representatives are yet to hold talks with any other club despite interest from several teams.
