Liverpool are set to revamp their attack this summer.
Arne Slot is reportedly unhappy with his attacking players outside Mohamed Salah. This news comes as a surprise as the reds boast the best attacking record in the Premier League. However, most of the goals have come from Mohamed Salah who has been directly involved in 42 goals for the reds this season. The next highest at the club is Luis Diaz with 9 goals.
Slot’s new system has gotten the best out of the midfielders at the club, but has not really had that effect on the attack. Outside Gakpo, and Salah, the rest have all not had consistency this campaign. The club continue to rely on Mohamed Salah in games where they desperately need a goal.
Liverpool will look the transfer market for reinforcements ahead of next season.

Champions League club will not agree to Liverpool transfer fee

Liverpool will reportedly make Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz available in the summer. The trio have showed they cannot be relied upon for multiple reasons. It is expected that one or two new faces will arrive at Anfield this summer. James Pearce has confirmed that a new striker will be signed pending Darwin Nunez’s departure.
GMS reported that Liverpool have kept an eye on Ademola Lookman since December. Reports from Spain state that the reds hold concrete interest in signing the Atalanta forward. Lookman will reportedly be available for around €65million, and Liverpool are not expected to match that valuation.
The reds are willing to pay €45million for the Nigerian international. Nothing has been confirmed or agreed, but Liverpool are expected to move quickly when the window opens. Lookman has made it public that he is looking to leave Italy after he clashed with Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Ademola Lookman could be exactly what Arne Slot needs
During this season, the attack outside Mohamed Salah have failed to show consistency throughout the campaign. Arne Slot is reportedly unimpressed with the trio of Jota, Nunez and Diaz. Darwin Nunez has been out of favour all season, and Slot has chosen to play wide players in the number nine role. Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have both played up top this season. However Jota’s injury issues and Diaz’s inconsistency in front of goal have been a problem
This is where Ademola Lookman comes in. The Nigerian forward can play on the left or upfront. Since he moved to Italy he has featured in Gasperini’s front two alongside an out and out striker. Lookman can play that number nine role Arne Slot has been using this season. Liverpool would be getting a quality addition for two roles in the squad.
