Liverpool are gearing up for a big summer transfer window.
The club are set to make major changes to the squad ahead of next season. This campaign has given Arne Slot and Richard Hughes the chance to assess the squad and see the areas to improve upon. One weakness in the team has been made clear so far this season; squad depth.

Liverpool transfer plans may be on hold after transfer target suffers major injury
Liverpool will be in the market for defenders this summer. The reds face the possibility of losing three of their regular back four at the end of the season. Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both set to leave at the end of their current deals. Reports claim Van Dijk could consider staying at Anfield past this season, but Trent is on his way out of the door. The defender is in talks with Real Madrid, who are close to completing a deal for the England international. Liverpool could also lose Ibrahima Konate, who is on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
That would leave Andrew Robertson as the only member of the starting back four. With the Scotland international declining over the last year, Liverpool are keeping their eye on a potential replacement. The latest on Robertson is that the reds are willing to offer him a contract extension.
Caught Offside report that Newcastle left back Lewis Hall is a potential target for Liverpool this summer. However with the latest news on the 20-year old, the reds transfer plans could be changed. Hall suffered an ankle injury and will reportedly see a specialist. The extent of his injury has not been confirmed, but Eddie Howe was not confident in a quick return to action:
“Yeah, an ankle problem after the Liverpool game,” said Howe. “He didn’t really recover well. He felt a pain. He’s had a scan and now he’s been to see a specialist. We’re awaiting further news.”
Lewis Hall might miss out when Newcastle face Liverpool in the League Cup final in a few weeks.
