Liverpool could be set for a spending spree this summer.
The reds are looking to reshape the squad in case they lose Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk. If nothing changes between now and the end of the season, all three could leave for free. Liverpool still hold slim hope of getting the players to renew their contracts at Anfield.
Reports claim that Virgil Van Dijk is the most likely to stay at the club. Salah is also leaning towards staying in England, but Liverpool will need to meet his terms. James Pearce revealed this information in a recent podcast:
“I’m still confident that Van Dijk will stay put. I think he’s been by far and away the best centre-half in European football this season.”
“With Salah we know there is strong interest from Saudi Pro League. I think that will come down to a straight choice from him. Does he want to stay at Liverpool and keep writing the record books or does he want to go to Saudi? I don’t think he’s ready to walk away from top level football.”
Unfortunately, Trent Alexander-Arnold is close to leaving the club, with a potential move to Real Madrid nearing completion.

Liverpool to receive financial boost

With reports surrounding Liverpool’s transfer plans in the summer, many are left wondering where the funds could come from. The reds could save a lot of money if one of their big earners leave for free in the summer. Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are among the top two earners at Anfield. Liverpool could also make money off the sales of players. Arne Slot is interested in bringing in new attackers during the summer. As a result, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have been made available for sale.
The Athletic has reported that a “a massive amount” of funds will be set aside for transfers. Liverpool are set to make close to £200million this season. The latest Deloitte Football Money League has reported that the club have seen an increase in revenue to approximately £600million in 2023/24.
Liverpool are also set to benefit from their on field success. The reds could make up to £83million in the Champions League this season with an additional £47million in prize money if the club make it far in the competition. Liverpool’s new kit deal with Adidas will also kick in later this year, which will bring in an addition £60m annually.
Arne Slot’s side are away to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League tie on Wednesday.
