Liverpool have drawn up a list of transfer targets this summer.
The reds are hoping to change the events of this season. Arne Slot took over the club last summer, and has only had two permanent additions to the first team. Only one of these players is active at the club, as Mamardashvili was sent back on loan to Valencia. Federico Chiesa was the only new player added on to the team Jurgen Klopp left behind.
Slot had managed to make do with what he had this season. Liverpool went off to a flying start, and topped the Premier League, and Champions League group phase in January. Slot’s new possession-based style brought the best out of players like Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.
Unfortunately, the lack of depth in the squad cost Liverpool. In crucial games against Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain, the reds barely had options to bring off the bench when they needed a goal.

Champions League star is not high on Liverpool list
However, all that is set to change this summer. Richard Hughes will work closely with Arne Slot to revamp the squad ahead of next season. The former Feyenoord boss is set to be backed in the upcoming window after his impressive campaign so far. There will be a whole host of new faces in the door at Anfield ahead of next season. Liverpool are set to add a new defender, and an attacker according to reports.
Bayer Leverkusen wingback Jeremie Frimpong has been linked with a move to Liverpool according to Christian Falk. The report claims that Arne Slot has personally been involved in convincing the player to move to England this summer. However, Slot has made it known to Frimpong that he will not be the main priority. Falk adds that Liverpool will be in the market for a new defender, and a striker before they consider signing the Dutch international.
Slot asked to sign Jeremie Frimpong in the last window, and has retained his interest in the Leverkusen star this season.
Positive plan by the reds
It is a very good sign that Liverpool have identified the areas they urgently need to attend to. With Trent, Van Dijk and Salah possibly leaving in the same window, adding an attacker and a defender should be the priority. That should not mean the reds should not sign Jeremie Frimpong, he would be a quality addition to the team.
