Liverpool in pole position to sign £4million rising star ahead of Newcastle United – Decision to be made this week

Calvin Ramsay

Liverpool are set to win the race for Calvin Ramsay and he could follow in Andy Robertson’s footsteps and become the latest Scotsman to play for the Reds.

That’s according to Football Scotland.

They claim that Aberdeen will make a decision on Calvin Ramsay and where his destination will be with Liverpool though to be in pole position.

Liverpool are ‘hopeful’ of agreeing a deal to bring him to Anfield ahead of the likes of Bologna, Newcastle United and Spurs.

Jurgen Klopp needs cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold so that the squad can be further reinforced the way it has been in recent windows with the additions of Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota, Thiago,  Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz.

Aberdeen value the teenager at £4million which would represent a brilliant fee. It mitigates the risk of buying straight from The Scottish Premiership and reduces the pressure placed on Ramsay himself.

Moving to a massive football club like Liverpool brings huge pressure and that’s unavoidable. But agreeing a low fee helps lower expectations, giving Ramsay the greatest chance of success.

Should he move to Liverpool, Ramsay will join a long list of Scottish players that have played for the Reds.

Among the most famous names are Sir Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Allan Hansen, Billy Liddell and most recently, Andy Robertson.
