Bruno Fernandes takes swipe at Liverpool players

Bruno Fernandes has taken a swipe at Liverpool players after his side’s victory on Sunday. Manchester United won at Anfield for the first time since 2016. It was also their 100th fixture at the famous ground.

Fernandes volleyed the ball into the box which Harry Maguire headed in his team’s second goal. The Red Devils had opened the scoring as early as the 62nd second of the game before Cody Gakpo got the equaliser. His 78th minute goal making things level. But the English international Maguire leaped into the air to sink Liverpool hearts with the winner.

And now to rub salt into wounds the Portuguese international has made some comments which will rile up the players.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News after the game, the United midfielder believes Pool’s first half performance made its own fans turn against them.

“It’s always good to win games,” he said. “We know what this kind of games means for our club and fans and also for ourselves in the moment we are right now. It’s really important because we needed three points.”

“During the first half, we knew they were under pressure when they had time on the ball. Their fans were putting themselves in a difficult position because they were booing a little for them to play a bit quicker. That’s how Liverpool likes to play”, highlighting how the Kop put their team under pressure to deliver.

Liverpool fans will ask for heads to roll

The transfer market is still a couple of months away from opening but some changes need to be done straightaway. Several big names have failed to deliver. Even new signings have faltered.

There are calls to drop talismans or make wholesale changes to the starting lineup. But overall there is a desire to see a compact Liverpool side taking the field.

Many could point out to last year’s success being a continuation of Jurgen Klopp’s plans and this season is the true test of Arne Slot’s mettle. Nothing speaks like success and if Liverpool wants to silence the critics, the coach needs to do a rethink.
