Federico Chiesa, Liverpool’s marquee signing from Juventus this summer, is staying behind at Anfield during the international break to maximise his chances of making an impact for the Reds.
The Italian forward, who joined Liverpool in a deal worth £10 million, with potential add-ons raising the total to £12.5 million, is using the break to sharpen his skills in training.
Chiesa has been working hard, staying back after sessions to ensure he’s fully prepared to contribute once the Premier League resumes.
Liverpool’s summer business was minimal, with only two signings, one of whom, Giorgi Mamardashvili, will remain on loan at Valencia for the season.
Chiesa was the only immediate addition to the squad, and the club is banking on him to bolster their attack.
According to Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast, Chiesa was initially offered to Bayern Munich before Liverpool made their move.
However, the German champions showed no interest, opting to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace instead.
Chiesa, 26, has already shown flashes of his sharpness in training as he aims to quickly adapt to the demands of the Premier League. By staying at the club during the international break, he is making a statement of intent, signalling his readiness to break into the starting lineup.
The Italian forward watched from the stands as Liverpool defeated Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford last weekend and will be eager to make his debut at Anfield against Nottingham Forest after the international break.

His determination to make a mark is clear, and the club is hopeful that his work ethic will pay off when the season resumes.
With the possibility of facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Chiesa could soon have a chance to prove the German side wrong for passing on him.
As the season progresses, Liverpool will look to him as a key figure in their attack, and his efforts during the break could be the first step towards making a significant impact at the club.
