Barcelona could involve Liverpool in transfer deal for Marcus Rashford

Liverpool are set to be involved in a huge transfer between two big clubs in Europe.

The Reds are yet to sign a first team player in this January transfer window. Liverpool’s current priority is dealing with the future of three of the best players at the club. Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are yet to sign new deals at Anfield. The trio are open to negotiate with foreign clubs from this month, and could leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Liverpool continued their 100% record in the Champions League group phase, as they beat French side Lille who were on a 21-game unbeaten streak.

Mohamed Salah has been the club’s best performer in the league with 18 goals and 13 assists so far. Arne Slot has also been able to bring the best out of the other players in attack. Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have been in great form this campaign. Diaz has been directly involved in 10 Premier League goals, while Gakpo has been playing better than he did last year.

Diaz’s form has been so good that he is attracting interest from other big clubs including Barcelona. The Spanish giants are back in for Diaz after holding interest in him last year. Barcelona are currently exploring a deal to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, but the talks have slowed. Rashford’s salary demands are reportedly complicating the deal, which has lead to them turning their attention back to Diaz.

The report from MD claims that Barcelona will be ready to move for the Colombian if Liverpool make him available.

Luis Diaz unclear on future

Liverpool recently offered a new contract to Ibrahima Konate, as they look to tie down current first team stars to avoid a repeat of the ongoing contract sagas. Diaz has two years left on his current deal with Liverpool, and recently rejected a contract extension.

The Colombian could leave the club, and will have suitors. The Reds could decide to cash in on the player with just over a year left on his current deal. However it remains to be seen if the club would choose to make him available this month, with the recent injury to Diogo Jota. Arne Slot would definitely reject any approach for the forward, as Liverpool are currently looking to win every trophy available this season.
