Arsenal launch €70M bid for striker amid Liverpool interest

Liverpool have reportedly put in place a lot of transfer plans for this summer.

Currently, it looks like the Reds will not be active in this January transfer window despite the rumours. Some players have been linked with moves away from Anfield, but nothing concrete has materialized yet. Liverpool are currently working on negotiating deals with key players in order not to lose them for free this summer.

Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are all set to leave this summer as things stand. On the pitch, the Reds are in fantastic form as they sit top of the Premier League and Champions League group phase. Arne Slot has done a very good job this season, and has positioned the club to win all trophies available.

Despite not being active in trying to sign players, the Red are dealing with in-house issues this month. Liverpool have offered Ibrahima Konate a new deal as they prepare for the departure of Virgil Van Dijk. The club has also put plans in place to try and sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

The striker’s position has been an issue for the club this season, Arne Slot has preferred to play without a recognized striker this season. The Reds’ coach has preferred to play Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota in that role, prompting rumours that Darwin Nunez will leave the club in the near future.

One of the strikers Liverpool have looked at is RB Liepzig star Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenian has been on the radar of top clubs since he joined the Bundesliga side. Unfortunately, Arsenal have moved fast and are reportedly lining up a €70million move to sign him this month. TBR reports that the Gunners are set to make a move for Sesko before the transfer deadline next week.

Reds to miss out on prime target

Nothing has been confirmed at the moment, but Liverpool missing out on Benjamin Sesko would be a huge blow. The Slovenian is one of the only strikers in Europe young enough to justify a huge transfer fee. The other options are older than 25 years, and with the current market, would be overpriced.

The Reds have to decide what they want to do with Darwin Nunez before they plan to sign another attacker in the near future.
