Liverpool are set to make a major signing.
It has been anticipated that the club will make a big signing this summer. With Liverpool set to lose three of their biggest stars, many have speculated that a marquee signing could arrive this summer. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all out of contract at the end of the season. If all three do leave the club, the club has extra funds off their wage bill that they can use for transfers.
No deal has been confirmed so far, but many signs point to Alexander Isak being the major name to join Liverpool this summer.

Fabrizio Romano gives update on Liverpool target

Recently, midfield has been an area Liverpool have been looking at potential targets. Last month, reports claimed the reds were eyeing a move for FC Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch international will have one year left on his contract at the end of the season and a move is very possible. Liverpool are also in the race to sign Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool are one of multiple clubs interest in bringing Xavi Simons to England:
“The feeling from sources close to the process is that Xavi Simons could be available for a fee of around €70-75m (£58-62m) in this transfer window, which is a potential big opportunity for many top clubs who’ve been following Simons’ rise since he was a wonderkid at Barcelona, a gem at PSG before becoming a star at PSV Eindhoven,”
“The same Premier League clubs attentive to Xavi’s situation one year ago, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, are still very well-informed on developments around the Dutch talent.” he wrote in his GMS column.
Simons has seven goals and four assists in the Bundesliga this season.
Do the reds need Xavi Simons?
Arne Slot has reportedly asked for new faces in attack. The Liverpool boss has asked for players with versatility that can operate across the frontline. This description perfectly fits Xavi Simons; the dutch international can play across the attack and in midfield.
But the issue with potentially signing him is that his production is not that impressive. In two seasons in the Bundesliga, he has just 15 goals. That tally is not more impressive than what Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have managed within the same period. Simons is a very talented player, but his signing comes with many flags.
