Liverpool are currently dealing with multiple contract issues as the summer approaches.
The reds are yet to sort out the futures of their three best players this campaign. Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could all leave at the end of the season. The trio have been huge to the success of Liverpool this campaign. Arne Slot’s new system has elevated the team this season, but the performances of the trio have pushed the club forward. Virgil Van Dijk is the anchor of the second best defence in the Premier League.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has bounced back from an underwhelming campaign last year. And Mohamed Salah has 24 goals this season.

Liverpool could sanction shock sale

The reds need to resolve their contract issues before the end of this season. However, Liverpool also have some contracts to worry about in the next year. A handful of first team stars have their contracts expiring in 2026. These include Ibrahima Konate, Caomhin Kelleher and Andrew Robertson. The club have decisions to make about these players; they either renew their contracts, or sell them this summer.
Kelleher already looks on his way out of Anfield. The backup goalkeeper has attracted a lot of interest so far. Newcastle and Chelsea are in line to sign the 26-year old.
Paris Saint-Germain have made their interest in Ibrahima Konate known this past week. The French club see the defender as a priority signing this summer. Earlier this season, the 25-year old revealed that he had a contract offer from Liverpool on the table. But he said he had not decided on what to do with his future yet. Konate said in a recent interview that his agents would handle his future amidst interest from PSG and Real Madrid.
Football Insider report that Liverpool could be open to selling the defender with his current contract situation. Konate’s current deal runs out in 2026, and he is at his most valuable now.
What happens to Konate?
The most important question now is what Liverpool do with Ibrahima Konate. The defender is still young, and playing his best football. He is subject to interest from two big clubs in Europe. Liverpool can decide to cash in on him this summer, or hope he signs a contract extension. This decision will be crucial for the future of the club ahead of next season.
