Ekitike provided an assist in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-1 win at Freiburg at the weekend, which ensured the club secured Champions League qualification last season.
However, it appears the Frenchman has played his last gam for the German side as he is almost certain to move on in the upcoming transfer window.
Liverpool are considering making a splash for the 22-year-old striker this summer, and Eintracht CEO Markus Krosche indicated that the club would be open to selling him if the Frenchman feels he has outgrown them.
“He’s one of the most interesting strikers on the European market. Hugo has to decide that, I’m glad we have him. If he decides otherwise, it’s our belief that if a player develops faster than us, we let him go”, Krosche told Sport1.
“Hugo is an exceptional player who played a major role in our qualification for the Champions League. He certainly still has a lot of potential for development as he’s only 22 years old.”
Eintracht are likely to demand as much as £84m for a striker who has scored 22 times and registered 12 assists this season in all competitions.
