£67m star wants Liverpool move

Liverpool manager Arne Slot offered key updates regarding Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister's injuries

Liverpool are expected to reinforce their midfield in the next two transfer windows as Arne Slot pushes to put his stamp of approval on his squad.

Slot spent very little in his first summer as Liverpool manager and the club even failed to sign the defensive midfielder that was his priority in the last window.

Liverpool are planning to bring in a number 6 in the window and are even prepared to sell Wataru Endo to part-fund the move with Tyler Morton also expected to be loaned out.

However, Slot is pushing for more midfield reinforcements and the club are tracking several players with a view to making potential moves in the summer transfer window.

Orkun Kokcu is one of the midfielders Liverpool have been heavily scouting and he was watched several times by their recruitment team in the last month or so.

Arne Slot is said to be leading Liverpool’s interest in the midfielder as he coached him for two years at Feyenoord previously.

Midfield star open to Anfield move

His father recently admitted that Slot is a family friend and didn’t rule out the possibility of the player moving to Liverpool and reuniting with the Dutchman.

It seems Kokcu’s move to Liverpool could become a reality soon as there is more speculation of him wanting to work under Slot again.

According to Football Insider, Kokcu would be open to the prospect of reuniting with his former Feyenoord coach at Liverpool.

He enjoyed working under Slot and if the opportunity opens up, he would be keen on a move to Anfield.

With the midfielder seemingly consenting to the move, the Reds will now have to find a way to make the move a reality.

However, a transfer would not be cheap as Benfica are likely to demand a big fee before agreeing to sell the player in the summer.

The Portuguese giants signed him for a considerable fee last year and they are unlikely to let him go without getting a premium price.

It has been suggested that it would take as much as £67m to get him out of Benfica next summer.
