Arne Slot wants to bring Ballon D’or winner to Liverpool

Arne Slot has made a major impact since becoming the Liverpool manager and his team continue to sit at the summit of the Premier League table in the early part of the campaign.

The Dutchman has proved his detractors wrong and turned Liverpool into a genuine contender to challenge Manchester City’s dominance at the top of the league.

Liverpool have surprised many this season but they are now showing any signs of slowing down to suggest that their early season form could be a mirage.

Slot has transformed a few players in the Liverpool squad with stars such as Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate playing their best football under him this season.

The Liverpool manager is continuing to try and find ways to add that extra edge to his team and has invited a Dutch legend to help him out if he wants to.

Netherlands legend Marco van Basten recently celebrated his 60th birthday and Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport put together a montage of football personalities wishing him their best.

The Liverpool manager is one of the personalities who was part of the video montage and the Dutchman duly recognised the achievement of his compatriot.

Slot conceded that Van Basten would remain a legend for his generation as he won the Netherlands European Championship in 1988.

Can you name the club Liverpool signed these players from?

The Liverpool manager invited the former striker to visit his squad and perhaps impart some advice to improve his team’s forwards.

“Marco, here from Liverpool, congratulations on your 60th birthday”, Slot said.

“For my generation, you will always be the player who was so great during the European Championship and brought us the first and so far only European Championship.

“I would really like it if you would come to Liverpool for a day. Whether or not you will work with our strikers, we will have to talk about that later!”

Liverpool’s early season form is based on their defence with the team having the best defensive record in the Premier League thus far, conceding just six goals in the first team games.

However, their forwards have not been shabby as well and they have scored 19 in the league thus far.
