“I’m ready and available to play whenever” – Vítězslav Jaroš after Liverpool debut

After sustaining an injury against Crystal Palace, Alisson Becker was replaced by third-choice goalkeeper Vítězslav Jaroš. It was a quick game for the Czech international as he finally made his debut for Liverpool.

Alisson seems to have sustained a hamstring injury at Selhurst Park. It was in the 79th minute when The Brazilian went down with his right leg in the arms.

The medical team immediately concluded that he wouldn’t be fit to continue the game. A detailed assessment is still under progress and a confirmed return date hasn’t been specified yet.

The severity of the injury is also still under the shadows. Nevertheless, Jaroš was the one who came in and played his part in Liverpool’s fifth clean sheet of the season.

The goalkeeper saved a strike from Eberechi Eze which helped The Reds secure a narrow 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. The Czech footballer reflected on an unexpected debut in the post-match press conference.

[It was] a brilliant feeling, something you dream of as a kid. Obviously, it’s a bit stressful coming on as a keeper especially in a game like this when it was up and down towards the end but managed to get the clean sheet and managed to get the three points.

So, brilliant. I went on a few loans in the past which I think got me ready, so I’m ready and available to play whenever.

How Liverpool will deal with the injury?

Arne Slot believes Liverpool has pretty good backups for the regulars

Arne Slot believes Liverpool has pretty good backups for the regulars

Arne Slot rightfully believes that Alisson Becker is the best goalkeeper in the world. Losing him to injury will prove to be significant for Liverpool.

Alisson is our clear No. 1. [He is] the best goalkeeper in the world so it’s always a blow when he gets injured. But in almost every position we have a second option that is also really good.

However, Slot also believes that Liverpool holds pretty good counterparts as backups for the regulars. Vítězslav is a good example as the Czech goalkeeper was ready to perform under such circumstances despite being the third-choice goalkeeper.

Second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher didn’t travel to South London as the Irishman was suffering from a fever. The Dutch manager’s belief in Jaroš runs so deep that he went out of the way to convince him to stay.

We trust him a lot. He wanted to go [back this season] because he wanted to have playing time again. We said at a club like this, we also need a very good third goalkeeper as well. Today proves we were right, and maybe for him, it was a nice moment for him to make his debut for Liverpool.
